Reclaim food and body wisdom

Eating Disorder Recovery - Body Image healing - Weight Inclusive Nutrition Therapy

Despite messages that we are inundated with, health isn’t synonymous with restriction or about manipulating body size. We can’t earn a desired outcome with our health and body if we just eat ‘right’. Instead, wellbeing is about the balance between unique mental, emotional, and physical health, while taking into account the most influential factors- genetics, access to equitable and quality health care, access to adequate food, environment, and more.

Diet Culture thrives off of a narrow window of what health looks like, which destroys our confidence in our ability to feed ourselves competently and doesn’t take into account other major determinants. In order to restore our innate ability to eat intuitively, we must uncouple weight from worth, let go of externally driven behaviors and information about what we should and shouldn’t be eating.

In our work together, we will support you in discovering self-care outside of constantly obsessing over controlling body size, so that you can truly meet your body’s needs. Our hope is that you will find more peace by feeling both physically and mentally fuller. You deserve a new perspective, to discover your values, what brings you joy, and fills you with deeper purpose.

You are deserving of a peaceful and curiously evolving relationship with food and your body.

Initial Therapy Session

During this session, we will do a full assessment to really get to know you and answer any questions you might have about our work together. With your permission and only what you are comfortable sharing, we may explore your past and present relationship with food, body image concerns, medical history, digestive health, exercise/movement, mental health history, stress levels, sleep patterns, and so much more. Together, we will come up with a place to get started, discuss the type and amount of support you will need, frequency of visits, long term goals, and what you are hoping to get out of our work together. Your needs and wishes are top priority as we partner to improve your health and wellbeing.

Follow Up sessions

These sessions are where a bulk of the work takes place. As a team, we will spend time unpacking challenges, work together to develop tools for effective coping, unlearn diet rules, create structure if necessary, increase variety and flexibility with eating, learn how to respond to your body’s hunger and satiety cues, and improve the relationship you have with food and your body. Together we support you through discomfort, celebrate your progress, and develop the skills to navigate the world with more skill. This is your space to talk through, feel, and deal with all emotions and experiences.

  • INSPIRD Nutrition & Mental Health Counseling currently accepts Highmark, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, UPMC, and Aetna. Insurance is billed directly on your behalf, if your coverage has been verified in advance of your visit.

  • If insurance rejects a submitted claim for any reason, the client is responsible and will pay the full fee for the service(s) rendered.

  • If not covered by or not using insurance, out of pocket fees are $160 for initial sessions and $130 for follow-up sessions per 60 minutes of service.

  • Depending on the acuity of a client's case, there may be an increased amount of time spent by the clinician on care coordination outside of sessions. The client would be responsible for a care coordination fee of $30 per 15 minutes. An estimate document can be provided by the clinician.
